How is the cabinet installed?
Safety is our number one concern. We won't sell you a cabinet unless we are confident it can be secured to your vehicle's frame. Most often we provide materials and instructions for installation. To install a cabinet you'll need two people and a working knowledge of power tools. There is an installation helpline available. Here's an example of a steel bracket tying our cabinet to the Ford Explorer.
Does News Crew Cabinets offer an installation service?
Yes! We will take care of your installation. The cost for installation varies depending on the model of cabinet, number of cabinets, and travel. It may not be worth it for you if we install only one or two; but if you're outfitting the entire fleet, you'll probably save some money (and headache) if we do the job. Contact us at info@NewsCrewCabinets to break down the price comparison.
What do you do about the spare tire and car jack accessibility?
This has been taken into consideration during the design phase. If the jack is blocked by the cabinet, it typically can be mounted somewhere on the cabinet itself. Modifications are made to the vehicle if the cabinet blocks the spare tire's access point. If the cabinet blocks the tire itself, we try to find a way to remove the tire and secure it somewhere else. In the Explorer turning a nut lowers the spare from beneath the vehicle. We modify the floor panels to accommodate access.
How long does it take to build?
Regardless of the quantity, our goal is to get your order shipped in four to six weeks. If you purchase a large number of cabinets (ten or more) we reserve the right to extend that time frame.
Are the vehicle's sightlines compromised?
Sometimes you have to trade storage space for visibility. Think about driving a live van; no rearview mirror at all. The cabinet in this picture is 22 inches tall. Plenty of visibility but some would rather have the space. We typically do not build a cabinet to the ceiling of the vehicle because of access and installation issues. It's possible you will have some reduced visibility; you usually will not have a total loss of visibility. Your side mirrors will never be affected.
How long will the cabinets last?
Each cabinet comes with a one-year limited warranty. With good treatment and some minor maintenance, each should be functional for the life of at least two vehicles (based on the replacement of a vehicle every 3 to 5 years).
